About the Game

Vibe With Your Own Digital Ant Farm

Desktop Ant Farm Simulator is a lightly interactive productivity app. Start a farm with a sprawling grid of dirt and some ants. Watch as they dig out tunnels and pockets and listen to cozy lo-fi beats. The game window can be fully re-sized and displayed in portrait or landscape. As well as being able to make the screen borderless, it will persist over other windows on your PC or laptop. Set it up in a corner space of the other stuff you're doing on your PC and have a digital ant farm to zone out and distract yourself with. A suite of camera control options allow you to focus on specific ants or take control yourself. The ants are fully autonomous and will dig until they are satisfied with the farm.

Choose Your Level of Interactivity

Productivity Mode starts you with 80 ants with mid-range stats and let's them loose. There is no currency, no purchasing, no upgrading. A pure autonomous digital ant farm. Let it run consecutively and depending on the farm, it can go as long as 48 consecutive hours.

Idle Mode starts you with 1 ant. Every dirt clod they collect translates into currency. Use that to buy more ants and upgrade their stats. All farms get exhausted eventually, but this farm requires your intermittent interaction if it is ever going to go anywhere.

A Suite of Settings

This is at it's core a productivity app. It's not meant to be your main focus. A suite of settings exists to match what kind of desktop ant farm you want. A range of audio settings, visual effects, font choice, and the ability to toggle off the Window Priority if you don't want it persisting over everything. This is in addition to the wide range of camera, zoom, and view orientation options. Resize the window however you see fit. Dynamically change between portrait and landscape. Zoom five different levels with [alt]. Make the window borderless with [tab]. Make it tiny. Make it fullscreen. The goal is to set up an ant farm buddy that works for you while you go off and do whatever you need on your PC.

Early Access and Save Data

This game is in early access and will be changing a lot over the next several months as things are improved. The foundation of the game was built in a way that the meta level save data should never need to be wiped. That includes stats, settings info, achievements. Farm data may need to be wiped occasionally with larger patches that alter how farms and ants work at their core. This will be planned in a way to accomplish as much editing in a single patch at once so that farm resets can be as infrequent as possible. Thank you for understanding!
