Critterrupters

It's been a few months since the Critterbyte TCG was released and it's already been replaced by the latest craze: Critterbyte Chips! A brand new augmented reality game that lets you find and battle Critterbytes in your town through a CritTer (Critterbyte Terminal). The makers of Critterbyte Chips are hosting a special competition; come to Nikkolo Island, where the game is made, and take on the Critterbyte Club Challenge. The first to claim victory at all the clubs will win a fabulous prize. Exciting!

Alfa the Alpaca (or whoever you create!) has been counting down the hours until they leave for Nikkolo Island to get a CritTer and meet their new hardlight buddy. A choice of Hangolin, Wallablaze or Aguatto Critterbyte dictates how their journey unfolds. With their buddy in tow, Alfa is ready for a new adventure full of exploring, downloadingCritterbytes and conquering the Island's Clubs.

On Nikkolo Island, Critterbyte battles take place in real time only pausing to let you pick your moves. Each move requires a few seconds to charge up before it's used but if a Critterbyte is attacked whilst charging they'll be interrupted! Their turn is missed, additional attacks will do increased damage and incoming debuffs will stack more than normal. However, offence is the best defence when it comes to interrupting, can you master battles and win without taking damage?

Building up your team of Critterbytes will be more varied than lowering HP and chucking capture devices. Each of the wild Critterbytes you encounter will have a specific set of conditions to increase their download chance above 0%. Inflicting poison could raise it by 10%, a blaze attack by 30% and perhaps an interrupt is 50%, meaning each Critterbyte will need some preparation to download and add to your team.

Downloading a Critterbyte you already own rewards data instead which is used to synthesise Boost and Skill Mods. Boost Mods impart a passive ability onto a Critterbyte, and Skill Mods give an additional skill to use in battle. Combine Boost and Skill Mods with the Role Mod that boosts a Critterbytes base stats at the expense of another so you can decide their strategy.

Both you and your buddy are on this adventure together! In addition to looking cute and following you around, they'll learn skills to help Alfa navigate the island. Digging for treasure, leaping up cliffs and walking on water will traverse you both around the island. However, each buddy learns these abilities in a different order, changing the order of the areas you visit, Critterbytes you can download and clubs you can challenge!

Taking on Critterbyte Clubs will challenge your team building by pitting you against the trainers and the Club Leader, not just without healing, but also an additional rule to contend with. 

Defeat them all to meet the creator of Critterbyte Chips and win the prize they're offering to victors of this island challenge!
