About the Game

Crime Lords is a mafia themed turn-based strategy game in which you move units, claim territory and exploit resources to grow and fight other clans over dominion on a hexagonal grid map.

It features an innovative take on the classic 4X genre, with an historically themed representation of the sicilian mafia on abstract maps of Palermo, Chicago and New York City.

Mafia Theme

Step into the shoes of a sicilian mafioso during the formative years of the cosa nostra. Choose among the unique economic opportunities of the rural outskirts of Palermo to the industrial rackets of New York City and Chicago. Leverage your wealth and power to corrupt officials and maneuver the treacherous landscape of organised crime to become the Boss of Bosses.

4X Gameplay

Resource Management

Exploit the neighbourhoods, each with distinct opportunities for racketeering in various categories like extortion, theft, smuggling, finance, labor and commerce:

  • collect protection from businesses in your turf

  • highjack transport vehicles and warehouses with valuable goods from local businesses like lemon groves and sulfur mines

  • establish smuggling routes for illicit goods like alcohol and narcotics

  • set up gambling dens and loan sharking operations

  • infiltrate unions to hold sway over labourers

  • control the supply as well as the price of goods through market fixing

Empire Building

  • carve out individual turfs on the map

  • establish crews of soldiers and capo-regimes and assign them to turfs

  • appoint an administration consisting of an underboss and a consigliere

  • leverage each member's unique strengths and weaknesses to boost the efficiency of the organisation

  • fight rival factions and take over their territories to grow your dominion

  • gain prestige and compete with other factions over supremacy of the map
