About the Game

About This Game

You are an Investigator of the Compromise, belonging to neither the Day nor the Night. When someone breaks the rules, you're the one who goes to the scene and files the report. What happens after surely is none of your concern.

Investigate Strange Cases

Examine breached crypts and ransacked graves. Track down an illegal fortune-telling operation run by Pixies. Investigate a strange human child strolling the streets at Night. Decide what makes it into your report and what gets left out.

Each case is a self-contained little story but everything is connected and it might require multiple playthroughs for you to truly grasp the underlying truth.

Multiple Playable Investigators

Play as a character from a variety of races and backgrounds. Whether you're of the Day or Night, the curfew doesn't apply to you. That doesn't mean you're welcome.

The same case plays out very differently as a Human than as a Vampire. Certain witnesses will speak freely to one and immediately attack another.

A Persistent, Reactive Town

The town remembers. Factions react to how you handled past cases. Characters return with altered attitudes. Tensions between the Day and the Night shift over time. Small choices escalate into larger conflicts, and early decisions can lock, alter, or unlock later storylines. Some events can even lead to complete town altering disasters.

There are no perfect resolutions, no ways to make everyone happy.

Character Progression

As the cases accumulate, your character changes.

  • Gain permanent afflictions that alter stats, abilities, appearance, and dialogue

  • Evolve those afflictions as you level up

  • Collect unusual items and affliction with completely game-altering effects

Progress comes with drawbacks. You don't just become stronger, you'll also change into something different.

Things Can Turn Violent

Combat is avoidable, but extremely dangerous.

  • Turn-based combat revolving around throwing dice

  • Your stats, abilities, afflictions, and items, all interact dynamically

  • Afflictions gained can carry beyond a single encounter
