About the Game

Cambiando is a surreal roguelike card game about playing cards with a malicious god, at the end of the world.

Play cards

Cambiando uses a mix of rules from the party-card game "Cambio" and the singleplayer aspects of solitaire, making for a addictive singleplayer memory game baseline.

  • Try to get the lowest score possible.

  • At the start of each round, draw a face-down "scoring hand" which will inevitably score and give you points.

  • Also draw a "playing hand" which can be used to identify and change the cards in the "scoring hand."

  • Use your memory to it's fullest and "slap" matching cards to lose score!

Make a unique build

Cambiando features a plethora of different items to spice up each run. Every item taken has the potential to completely change your run. Some items include:

  • Food - change your deck and chisel it to perfectly match what your other items want.

  • Photographs - unique items that give you different amounts of score depending on what you do.

  • CDs - modify the rules of the game itself, and hopefully make it easier for you to score less.

  • Medals - permanent upgrades, some with high risks, that modify how you play and score.

Plus, before each run you'll pick a character, so each build, even if they're the same, has the potential to be different.

Navigate the Table

All of the game takes place on one table, but as the god toys with you, he also sets up a "map" for you to navigate. Each path has it's own risks and rewards, and your choice can make the biggest difference in your run. You could find:

  • Shops - where you modify your run.

  • Elites - harder "combats" (where you play cards) with greater rewards.

  • Events - random situations that help your run along.

  • Boss Encounters - hard unavoidable combats, which bend the rules against you.

Influence the story

From when you first load in, you'll be making choices that impact the story. Different endings give different goals to each run, motivating you to play differently. The story is added to by lovingly crafted drawn pixel art, and ethereal dynamic music.
