About the Game

Everything is urgent. Nothing is ready. Somehow, this is all your fault.

In Burned Out!, you and up to three coworkers must survive a series of workplaces that get faster, meaner and more overloaded with every stage.

What begins as another pointless task on a work computer quickly spills out into the workplace. Print the documents you create, carry them between stations and prepare every order correctly before the deadline. Sign reports, stamp charts, staple pages, organize folders and deliver everything while new requests continue piling up.

Please note: the backlog will continue growing regardless of your emotional state.

One bad decision becomes three. Three become a crisis. The crisis becomes your shift.

Your Job, Unfortunately

Type, print, process, deliver, repeat.

Do it well and fast enough and you may get to feel competent for approximately three seconds.

Sit down at a computer and complete whatever ridiculous assignment has appeared on your screen. Once the work is done, collect the printed result and move it through every required step before delivery.

Split responsibilities between coworkers and fight over shared equipment. Shout useful things. Shout useless things. Try to keep the workflow alive when everyone needs the same printer at exactly the worst possible moment.

A missing signature, the wrong stamp or one badly timed task can turn an organized workplace into paperwork, bottlenecks and coworkers shouting across the room.

Too much pressure and too many mistakes will leave you Burned Out!: physically present, emotionally unavailable and approximately as useful as a human paperweight.

Between jobs, return home to recover, spend what you earn and prepare useful advantages for whatever terrible workplace comes next.

Campaign

Take on a 60-stage Campaign that pushes office work far beyond the office.

Keep the workflow alive across increasingly unpredictable workplaces, from archives, hospitals and supermarkets to circuses, mines, airports and other places that should never have required this much paperwork.

Each chapter introduces new conditions, escalating complications and a literal boss responsible for making everyone’s job worse. Defeat them, survive the next assignment and uncover just how far the workplace chaos really goes.

Management assures you that all travel is strictly business-related.

Survival

Keep the workflow alive for as long as possible while orders, pressure and workplace complications continue escalating.

There is no end to the shift and no final item on the to-do list. Every recovered mistake buys a little more time, until one bad call becomes three and the entire workplace collapses under the weight of poor planning.

Party

Take the same office chaos, make it competitive and weaponize it against your friends.

Fight to become the best employee through fast, unpredictable matches built around rivalry, comebacks, accidental sabotage and the absolute certainty that somebody else was responsible for the loss.

Pay raise not included.
