About the Game

Born from the Soil is a turn-based tactics squad game drawing inspiration from both old and new, mixing modern gameplay polish with the look and feel of 80s-90s video games. Set in a pulpy post-apocalyptic world, the game draws inspiration from Mad Max, Starship Troopers, as well as the vibe of the classic Heavy Metal magazines.

Assume the role of a band of roving bikers roaming the wasteland in search of a place to belong. Complete missions, acquire new gear, and interact with the strange inhabitants of the wasteland in this piece of polished nostalgia.

Features

  • Classic turn-based tactics gameplay with a modern spin, set in a grungy mix of Mad Max and Starship Troopers.

  • Do-or-die: Aggressive tactics are rewarded, keeping missions well-paced.

  • Squad-based & gear-driven, with a huge range of equipment to suit your playstyle.

  • A fickle world; Each mission brings its own opportunities and complications, chosen by you.

  • Destructible environments: If it’s in the way, go through it!

  • Ride in style: An extensive amount of unit customization options.

  • Nostalgic 16-bit aesthetic enhanced by modern shaders, lighting, and VFX.

Demo

The demo takes around 30-45 minutes on a first play-through, and encompasses one full mission. While many features are still to be implemented, it showcases our core systems, including squad combat, various enemies, branching paths, rudimentary customization, and field crafting.

The Age of Jade

“Three generations ago, it appeared. The herald of a new age of humanity, visage once believed equally sacred and profane. We know it came from somewhere else, deep within outer space. A jade statue of impossible scale and form, a satellite rivaling the size of our moon, on a collision course with our world.

Much was tried in our efforts to divert it, but as measured minds failed, desperate voices began to be heard. The decision was made to utilize our collective might in a last attempt at changing its trajectory, to avert the impending calamity.

We failed. The statue shattered, its countless pieces raining down across the world, now entombed within the very soil of our planet. Infecting it.

From its shards, alien flora and fauna sprouted, overtaking all in its path. Changing it.

Today, the infestation has spread beyond control, touching every corner of the planet. While initially steadfast, humanity soon descended into tribalism, with roving groups of scavengers like us the only ones still able to survive the barren straits.”
