About the Game

What is Blades of Crossed Hearts?

Blades of Crossed Hearts is an angsty anime character action fighting game taking inspiration from Marvel vs Capcom and the Devil May Cry series.

How do I play?

The objective of the game is to deplete your opponent's health to zero. You can do this by using a variety of attacks and special moves given to your character. Note that attacks will deal additional damage if you press the button only briefly. Attacking the opponent will cause them to enter stun. If you attack the opponent while they're stunned you will perform a combo. Combos can be useful for dealing larger amounts of damage than individual attacks.

If you repeat the same move 3 times during a combo, you will gain an Infinite Prevention Strike. If you get 3 strikes, your opponent will automatically break out of the combo. Additionally, they may do this once per round for free by pressing the Special button after being attacked. They may also point their control stick in a particular direction in order to influence their velocity in that direction.

Who are the characters?

The game currently features 2 characters: Cyanide and Mercury. Cyanide is a feisty girl who carries a giant sword reminiscent of the weapons from anime and manga she enjoys. She fights from a short distance with long combos and fast movement.

Mercury is a timid boy who prefers to fight from a range, making use of slower but longer ranged attacks to keep his opponent at bay.

What modes does the game offer?

The game currently offers a 1v1 versus mode and a 2v2 tag team combat mode. In addition there's a training mode where you can practice combos against a helpless dummy opponent. The game is planned to have a story mode, but that is not yet implemented.

What are "Cores"?

The game features 3 gameplay styles called "Cores".

  • Nightcore is a lightning fast style which features high air mobility and quicker combos. But does less damage overall.

  • Breakcore is the game's default mode, featuring a more reasonable combat speed suited for an average player.

  • Daycore is a slower and heavier gameplay style which gives you less control over your character but deals much more damage.
