About the Game

Elena returns to the place where she grew up after receiving a message from her missing twin sister, Rita. The orphanage should have been empty. Instead, its halls are still warm, the bells are ringing again, and something has been moving through the walls.

Following Rita’s trail, Elena begins to uncover the remains of a forbidden ritual connected to the children who vanished years ago. Some of them may still be inside, though not in any form she remembers.

Black Lake is a story-driven first-person cosmic horror game set inside a ruined orphanage stranded in an endless black ocean.

A Character-Driven Horror Story

Built around a carefully written, character-driven story, Black Lake tells a carefully crafted story about grief, guilt, sacrifice, and the cost of pursuing answers that were meant to remain buried.

Every room has a purpose. Every encounter has meaning. Through exploration, memorable characters, and narrative-driven puzzles, Elena will uncover a mystery shaped by the lives of those who once called the orphanage home.

Survive Against the Unknown

Every encounter demands a different approach. Track unseen horrors with your phone, evade danger through stealth and distraction, and use limited resources wisely. Your revolver won't kill what's hunting you, but it might give you one last chance to run.

Return to the Orphanage

Explore abandoned classrooms, flooded halls, forgotten chapels, underground passages, and places that should not exist beneath the orphanage.

The environment is interconnected and rewards careful observation. Hidden routes, environmental details, and the remains of everyday life gradually reveal what happened to the children and why Rita came back.

Multiple Outcomes

Your choices, the people you trust, the secrets you uncover, and the way you survive can lead the story toward different outcomes.

Keep the Candles Burning

Use candles to create a temporary safehouse throughout the orphanage, giving Elena a moment to recover, manage her resources, and prepare for the darkness ahead.

But safety never lasts forever.

See What the Eye Cannot

Elena’s phone is more than a source of light. Through its screen, she can uncover hidden clues, communicate with those who remain, and see threats invisible to the naked eye.

Keep the battery alive. Sometimes the screen is the only warning you will receive.
