About the Game

Before you enter the Kingdom of Behind the Beyond there are a few things you should know.

First: always be polite to old people.

Second: if an animal starts talking to you, don't panic.

Third: being the youngest sibling is less of a birth order and more of a career choice.

Jánoska has never heard of these rules.

A shame, really. If only there was some way to collect these old wisdoms, write them down, and pass them on to future generations! Oh well. Luckily, he doesn't need to know them.

Jánoska is the youngest son of a poor man, and like many youngest sons before him, he sets out into the world to find his fortune. He doesn't have a great plan, a legendary skill, or a prophecy in his pocket. He does, however, have a habit of helping people who need it.

This is both a very good quality and a surprisingly effective way to find adventure.

And then there is the Fox

You would think she is the talking magical animal sidekick that every folk hero needs. Which is a perfectly reasonable assumption. It is also completely wrong.

She is clever, mysterious, magically gifted, and clearly knows much more about the world than she is willing to admit.

Jánoska and her have very different approaches to life.

Which is fortunate, because they are going to need both.

Small Choices, Big Effects

Jánoska grows through Strength, Charm, and Dexterity, unlocking new dialogue options, puzzle solutions, and occasionally entirely new ways of making things more complicated.

The Fox, on the other hand, prefers to rely on a keen sense of smell and a little magic. She can sniff out hidden trails, see through illusions, influence minds, and persuade nature itself to lend a helping paw.

While there might be a variety of solutions to any problem you encounter, the choices you make to solve them may unlock entirely different opportunities (or even more problems...) later.

The World Doesn't Wait

The Kingdom of Behind the Beyond keeps moving, whether you're ready or not.

People go to work. Shops close. The village goes to sleep. Thieves get to work.

Some opportunities only exist at night. Others disappear with the sunrise.

Sometimes solving a puzzle isn't about figuring out what to do, but when to do it.

Always Time for a Round of Cards

Saving the day is important. But so is settling an argument over who is the best Ulti player in the village!

Between impossible quests, mysterious disappearances, and helping people who really should have learned not to make deals with suspicious horned individuals, Jánoska can always find time for a game of Ulti.

Compete against villagers, merchants, nobles, and other unlikely opponents and win their respect!

(Or, at the very least, walk away with their lunch money.)

If cards are more your kind of adventure, Behind the Beyond: Ulti is available separately on Steam, with leaderboards and multiplayer included.
