About the Game

Pure Physics. No Scripted Matches.

Tired of basketball games where the engine decides who wins the ball or whether the shot goes in? Basketing is fully physics-based. Your momentum, your angle, and the bouncing ball dictate every single basket. No pre-calculated animations, no scripts—just pure, beautifully chaotic basketball.

Key Features:

  • Predictably Unpredictable Basketball: Control your sphere, dominate the court, and sink perfect shots. With real-time physics, every bounce, deflection, and buzzer-beater is completely unique.
  • Dash & Defend: Jump and trigger a quick dash in any direction—including straight up—to intercept passes, block shots, or dunk with authority. Use it wisely—it takes 5 seconds to recharge!
  • Arcade Mode Madness: Collect random power-up items spawning on the court to temporarily alter player behavior, turning a tense match into absolute comedic chaos.
  • In-Game Soundtrack Controls: Keep the energy flow! Seamlessly skip and navigate between the game's diverse soundtracks at any time during gameplay by simply pressing the square brackets ([ and ]).

Play It Your Way

Grab your controllers and invite your friends over or use Steam Remote Play Together to experience the ultimate local showdown. Supports 1v1, 1v2, 2v2, or co-op matches against the CPU.

Make It Yours: Custom Skins & Courts

Want to play with your own team colors or custom artwork? Basketing lets you fully customize player and court textures!
  • Right-click Basketing in your Steam Library > Properties > Installed Files > Browse.
  • Open the "conf" directory to find the template (.png) files and quick instructions.
  • Open your favorite image editor, design your team's skins, and share your creations in our Steam Artwork community tab!

A Note From the Developer

Basketing is a true solo passion project built entirely from scratch without a commercial game engine. Developed natively on Linux using C++, custom OpenGL, and low-level libraries such as GLFW, Bullet Physics, OpenAL, and libzip, it stands as a tribute to raw code and the power of programming from the ground up. Windows was utilized strictly for cross-compiling and debugging.
Every visual and audio asset was crafted leveraging the vast ecosystem of professional open-source creative software—utilizing tools such as Blender, GIMP, Inkscape, Ardour, and Kdenlive across the pipeline.
If you appreciate independent, engine-free development and enjoy the game, leaving a quick review here on Steam helps a solo creator more than you know. Thank you for supporting the open-source spirit!
