About the Game

Barbelé is an Action and 3D Fighting, 3rd person game. It's a story driven adventure in a french prison which offers players dialogue choices.
You will have to do your time in prison, survive in a penitentiary with a real in game timer that you can influence with your action. You can make it pass quicker if you can smuggle things like a phone or books in your cell, or you can even add more time if you get caught fighting or doing anything else illegal.

Barbelé was born under the name “GS project” for “sacrificed generation”. This idea that young immigrants from the projects go through the same thing over and over again. Like a cycle that does not allow you to move forward. Barbelé wants to be an analysis of society, of the police, of justice, of young people in the projects.
The main feature of Barbelé is combat. The goal of the game is to get out of jail. After being sentenced to 2 years in prison, the player will have to try to survive to get out. A system of "timer" present in the game makes it possible to "do your time" to arrive at the moment when you become free. With each fight that you will make in front of witnesses of the penitentiary administration, you will add time to your sentence, you can even be sent to the "hole" for a given time so that you reflect on your actions.
Several ways will be accessible to "do your time" and finally get out of prison. Not making waves and letting yourself be eaten by ill-intentioned prisoners can get you out sooner with reduced sentences or with your feet first... Fighting intelligently will offer you some advantages without risking increasing your time, and on the other hand, constantly fighting will help to establish your position in the prison, make money and easily get a phone in your cell to prepare for the rest of your incarceration. But this can get you into serious trouble, additional penalties that will constantly delay your exit.
The use of the cell phone will be a major component of the game and there too, it will be necessary to learn to identify the guards' rounds and the schedules to know when it is possible to use the phone without risking being caught, which will result in an additional time, the loss of the phone which is very difficult to recover, and a passage to the hole.
There are other ways to get out of jail...
