It’s 1942. As the Japanese Empire invades Asia and the Pacific, the Dutch East Indies fall under their control. After centuries of brutal Dutch rule, the people of Indonesia are colonized by another tyrant. But enough is enough. The time has come to reject foreign rule and fight back against the colonizers.

The road to independence is a long one, and once Japan crumbles, the Dutch wait in line to try and re-establish their rule. Destiny of Heroes lets you experience the long struggle for independence as one of the Indonesians, fighting for freedom and liberty from the invasion by Imperial Japan in 1942 all the way to the expulsion of Dutch colonizers in 1949. Liberty or death!

The fight is uneven. Always outgunned and outnumbered, it’s up to you and your squad to beat the odds. Use the terrain to gain an advantage, ambush enemy soldiers, hit them where they least expect it. Use your squad’s skills to gain an advantage, and tear down the occupation, one soldier, one tank, one fortress at a time!

Every member of your squad has their own active and passive skills. Choose them carefully to ensure mission success - and keep them alive to secure Indonesia’s future as an independent country, rather than a colony of a distant enemy power. Drawing on the long history of Indonesia, the 1942-1945 resistance movements, and the 1945-1949 National Revolution, Destiny of Heroes portrays the brutal reality of occupation by Dutch and Japanese colonial powers, from the initial skirmishes to the ultimate retreat of the Netherlands from Indonesia.
