About the Game

Author's words

*Angels' Playhouse* is a story I wrote based on my years of research into extraterrestrials, aiming to gently convey the truth of the world. Every setting in the game bears little difference from the reality I see. Extraterrestrials exist, angels exist, and a happy life is equally possible. The game itself can be called a kind of "disclosure," though it contains no images of aliens, nor any evidence related to things from beyond. There is only a heartwarming tale that depicts my vision of humanity and the world, as well as how we can achieve lasting happiness in this era of upheaval.

I hope players who reach this point understand that this is not a classic galgame or dating simulation, free from any content meant to relieve stress or stimulate the senses (though it features many comedic moments). The love depicted is not exclusive but rather the universal, profound love shared among people. The game is filled with lengthy monologues from characters, discussing how to regain strength, face sorrow, and move forward—perfect for taking a moment to immerse yourself when seeking inner peace.

If you've ever doubted the world before you, if you've sensed the essence of life quietly shifting in the shadows, then this game might offer a kind of strength to accompany you toward a distant future.

Preface

As of the moment this text is written, mainstream thought in human society has yet to accept the existence of aliens.

Yet among the masses, a significant number of people already believe that extraterrestrial civilizations have always been closely connected to humanity. Some even claim that the earliest contact between humans and alien civilizations can be traced back to the glorious human civilization of Lemuria. After that came Atlantis; these civilizations formed cooperative relationships with alien civilizations, achieving rapid development until unexpected events led to the collapse of these grand civilizations. Their stories have been passed down, continuously distorted, and have become the myths of today.

However, when modern people gaze at the stars, most of the time, they are met only with the silence of space.

Story

Live like an Angel is set in the modern day, based on various ideas emerging from the ongoing New Age movement. It is a visual novel about angels, aliens, and humans, exploring serious themes including "why humanity has been placed under interstellar isolation", "the future of humanity as a collective" and "how individuals should move forward in this era".

But this is not a story with serious atmosphere at all. On the contrary, because the three main characters are far too fond of mischief, their interactions create a veritable chemistry lab, constantly producing unexpected situations and comedic moments.

Beyond that—to borrow an image from the Bible—each person has their own cross to bear. The characters in the story each have their own troubles, traumas, worries, and unresolved matters. Some of these past events trace back thousands of years, to an era when humans and "gods" still coexisted. One segment of the story is set in China's Yao-Shun-Yu era, 4,000 years ago, which should feel quite familiar to local players.

In summary...

To circle back and capture the impression of the entire story in one sentence...

It could be said that Live like an Angel is a comedic story born to bring happiness to its players.

It contains school romance, ancient Chinese alien legends, and supernatural science fantasy...

There are ancient sages bound by duty, the strongest human trapped by lies, and a grandmaster troubled by low wages...

And, an adorable, childish high school girl obsessed with playing house and comic books—

Finally, add to that countless hilarious moments.

Beneath these dazzling petals, this is fundamentally a story as warm as soil and as sweet as the spring breeze.

Just like the stories of every person in this world.

A Note on Gameplay

This game is a visual novel with no controllable characters. The primary gameplay involves following the story and making choices at branching points. Only the final branch leads to two different endings; all other options exist to create comedic effects. Players can freely choose their preferred options without affecting the overall story progression.

Pre-purchase Notes

This work is an independent personal project. Due to insufficient funds and not having initiated a crowdfunding campaign, it currently does not include character dialogue dubbing. Thank you for your understanding! I hope the other content meets a certain standard!
