5 itemsAbout the Game
1936 is a 2D action-platformer Boss Rush set in the Brazilian backlands, where every encounter puts you face-to-face with a creature inspired by Brazilian folklore.
You play as Alfredo, a man hardened by life who sets out on a dangerous journey. To reach his goal, he must face some of the most iconic creatures from Brazilian folklore, including the Saci, Curupira, Headless Mule, Iara, Cuca, and more.
There are no traditional stages separating one boss from the next. The focus is entirely on the battles.
Each boss has its own attacks, patterns, behaviors, and challenges, requiring you to learn the fight, read attack telegraphs, master your movement, and find the right opportunities to strike back.
MASTER YOUR SHOTGUN
The shotgun is Alfredo’s main tool for both combat and movement.
In addition to regular shots, you can fire downward while airborne to perform a recoil-powered extra jump, launching Alfredo through the air and creating new possibilities for movement, attacks, and evasive maneuvers.
Combine shooting, jumping, recoil movement, and dashing to survive fast and intense encounters where positioning and execution are essential.
FACE INTENSE BOSS BATTLES
The campaign of 1936 is built entirely around major boss encounters.
Each creature has its own identity and presents different challenges involving movement, precision, and pattern recognition. As battles progress, attacks may become more aggressive and appear in new combinations.
Learn each fight.
Recognize the patterns.
Find your own opportunities to attack.
And try to survive.
CREATE YOUR OWN FIGHTING STYLE
Throughout the journey, Alfredo gains access to different abilities that can change the way you approach each encounter.
Choose from 5 Special Powers and combine 2 out of 11 Mutations to adapt your playstyle before facing each boss.
Experiment with different combinations and find the strategy that works best for you.
A JOURNEY THROUGH BRAZILIAN FOLKLORE
Each encounter is accompanied by stories exploring the legends behind the creatures Alfredo faces.
Between battles, the journey also follows Alfredo’s personal story and the reasons that drove him across the Brazilian backlands to face creatures many believed existed only in folklore.
1936 combines Brazilian folklore, the sertão, and its historical setting to create its own unique journey, told through illustrations, narrative, and a soundtrack inspired by Brazilian identity.
MADE FOR PLAYERS WHO WANT TO MASTER EVERY FIGHT
Battles are designed to be fast, challenging, and replayable.
Death is part of the learning process. After being defeated, you can quickly return to the fight, try a different strategy, and attempt it again.
Once you know every attack, the challenge is no longer just about surviving.
You can aim for a better performance.
Defeat bosses without taking damage.
Improve your best times.
Break your own records.
And prove that you have truly mastered every battle.
