The Solace Diary - Entry 001

"Some years ago, an unexplained phenomenon took place in the city of Rho'Thanika, at the Cloudsview Mansion, estate of the esteemed High Theologian of the Rho Empire - Alcofrebas Nazeer.

The exact time of the incident is unknown, but in the early hours of the morning of Climb Remembrance Day, an attendant employed by the Nazeer estate reported being unable to establish contact with the mansion staff. The service door which was usually open for the early morning deliveries was still shut hours past the usual schedule.

In addition, the attendant reported the main gate being closed shut and a strange glow emanating from the keyhole, as well as from several of the visible windows around the mansion.

On the day of the incident, it was estimated that 113 people were inside Cloudsview Mansion.

Among them: 87 staff members—attendants, kitchen staff, gardeners, stable hands, theologians, and security personnel.

Alongside them were 23 visiting civilians, including representatives of the Explorer’s Guild, the Commerce Exchange Union, Deep Mountain Mining Co., petitioners seeking the counsel of Alcofrebas, and a handful of noble guests.

And then, of course, there was Alcofrebas Nazeer himself, alongside his daughter, Alice Nazeer.

But there was one person...one soul I didn’t expect to be there: my brother.

To this day, I still don’t know why.
