About the Game

What to Expect

A Swift Journey is made up of quick yet methodical pattern/chain attacks from your opponents, in which you the player must figure out these patterns and parry/counter attack to survive. You have no capacity to attack until you have managed to deplete your enemies stance to 0 and land a final hit on them to end the fight right then and there. Every enemy has a tell, and all have their own patterns. You will go through these fights either through the games Story mode (more about that at the bottom of the page), or through Training to familiarize yourself with the mechanics available to you, and to practice those moves so you can perform them flawlessly. And lastly through the endless mode, which will allow you to customize your experience via life count, difficulty, and more, before setting off to see how many opponent you can take down before finally falling to one of their blades. There also might be a few secret bosses unlocked through milestones or specific goal, but you didn't hear this from me

Parries

Use your swordsman ship to cut away at your opponents offense until your moment to strike appears. Your enemies may have a relentless stream of attacks, but what they have in offensive power they lack in discipline. Every strike of your swords, slowly chipping away at their stance until they can no longer hold stable footing. Then with a slight glint you're gone, and they have fallen to their knees, forever.

Displacement

Yes, any attack can be parried. But if you notice an attack coming straight at you, then it can be displaced! Use this tactic to spice up your defense and bring your opponent down with increased speed. The faster they fall, the better.

Quick Decisions

To come out on top you must always be focused on your opponent. They will always have a tell, Maybe they start with a specific move, have a pose they hit. No matter what it is you must keep an eye on them, as you never know when they will switch up and catch you off guard.

Setting

A Swift Journey takes place during the Ōnin War. A civil war that lasted for 10 years within Japan. You play as a low ranking but gifted warrior who was chosen to take part in this war, but you refused. You were sentenced to be executed but managed to escape, now you roam the woods trying to avoid anyone and live a quiet life. But no matter what you do someone always finds you trying to sneak around or steal to stay alive. In that moment you must make the choice, give up and lay to rest. Or draw your sword, and break your opponent. No matter your opponent, there is always room for them to make a mistake.
