A Simple Expurriment

A combat-free metroidvania with puzzles, stealth and genetically modified kittens. Help a cat mom rescue her abducted children by doing typical, not-so-typical and definitely atypical cat things: run walls up and down, turn to liquid and rearrange parts of the alien ship like pieces of a puzzle.

About the Game

A Simple Expurriment is a combat-free metroidvania where stealth is key. Exploration is done both by acquiring new powers and rearranging parts of the map, and a crucial choice later on will lead to one of two different paths.

- PUBLIC INFO -

Finding herself in space by hitching a ride with the alien who kidnapped her three kittens, a cat mom will have to use all of her feline traits in order to find them as she evades the security systems that keep looking for her.

Fortunately - or not - they're all part of an experiment that aims to understand cats' impressive influence over humans, run by the greedy Toilet Analyst of an even greedier extraterrestrial corporation. And then things start to get weird.

A Simple Expurriment is a metroidvania / puzzle hybrid where discretion and agility are more useful than sharp claws - not that any of those would be a problem for a cat, specially the three kittens that were genetically upgraded and got superfeline abilities. But that's not enough when every security system is after the elusive cat mom: that's why she also gets the ability to manipulate sections of the building like pieces of a sliding puzzle, allowing her to move through the depths of the Research Area, the perils of the Maintenance Area, the exclusive VIP Area and the most unpleasant place in the galaxy - the corporate cafeteria.

- CLASSIFIED INFO (NOT FOR TERRAN EYES) -

These things are weird.

They make strange noises. They sleep all day. They like to defy gravity.

Most importantly, they seem able to make humans do whatever they want.

Can we have this ability under control? Can we use it in our favor?

It’s in the best interest of The Company that we do.

To learn how to use their manipulation abilities as to facilitate future expansions towards their home planet and beyond.

Additionally, a small promotion for this dedicated Junior Toilet Analyst would be greatly appreciated.

  • Let’s see how well one of these creatures performs with finding her offspring, kidnapped and scattered all over this great place to work…

  • …specially after she finds out they have been genetically altered to jump higher, become undetectable and such.

  • Manual control of the ship’s sections must be enabled, so they can be moved around as in a sliding puzzle for further exploration.

  • Depending on what the creature does at a certain point, this experiment can follow one of two routes until its conclusion. Each one has its own challenges and ending. Both are chaotic.
